Francisco Zozaya, Chief Commercial Officer at JSSI, recently spoke with AvBuyer about jet maintenance considerations prospective buyers should be aware of before they make an offer.
From operational and maintenance costs to regulatory demands, there are several questions that should be addressed in the research process. When you pick the aircraft, you need to ensure you receive full transparency of the platform’s history, said Zozaya. “Key questions for the seller include where the aircraft has been based, any incidents it may have had, its maintenance history according to OEM recommendations, and its utilization trends over time.
“Buyers should also inquire if the aircraft is enrolled on a maintenance program, and if so [make sure they] understand the features, coverage, exclusions, and transferability of the program.”
Zozaya says buyers often hyperfocus on the results of the Pre-Purchase Inspection, but they should also consider when future major inspections will come due, and anything else that could impact the total cost of ownership. “It’s crucial to plan for the entire ownership journey and anticipate potential costs and maintenance needs.”
“A thorough logbook review, analysis, and proactive approach helps the buyer make a well-informed decision and ensure a smoother ownership experience,” he says. “Skilled buyers leverage information in their decision-making process.”
