JSSI’s 2024 Summer Interns Recap

JSSI’s 2024 Summer Interns Recap

Since 2009, the JSSI internship program has grown to become a true highlight of our year – where new ideas and projects are launched and led by a group of diverse and high-energy students who join JSSI for the summer.

JSSI’s investment in next-generation talent and innovation is the foundation of this opportunity. Over the years, close to 100 interns have graduated from the program; over 20 of whom have been hired into full-time positions and grown with the evolution of JSSI, and 10 of them are still with us today.

This summer, JSSI welcomed 9 interns joining a wide range of business units and departments: from Parts & Leasing and Client Services, to IT, Aviation Capital, Conklin & de Decker, Underwriting, and Advisory Services.

From learning new skills and software, to making the most of their time in Chicago, our interns quickly brought energy to our office and thrived with the opportunities and challenges presented to them.

“This internship was a great learning experience for me because I got to try a lot of things that are out of my comfort zone,” said Angelina Zhang, Conklin & de Decker Intern.

Over the last few months, the group attended the EAA Airventure Oshkosh Convention, volunteered at Intentional Sports, visited the JSSI Parts and Leasing Warehouse in Kentucky, and formed strong relationships with their colleagues and managers.

“I would say that my best experience outside of the office this summer was volunteering at Intentional Sports with the rest of the interns. We had so much fun while we were there, and the kids kept asking if we were coming back tomorrow – and I hated saying no,” said Devon Rodriquez, Advisory Services Intern. “Giving back to the community in that way was amazing and I wish we could have done it again.”

Client Services Intern Molly Faul added, “The most significant part of my time with JSSI and the whole experience was the people. The people make the place in my opinion, and every single person went out of their way to teach me, show me the ropes, and really just helped me integrate into JSSI.”

And we think it’s safe to say – this group is ending their summer with great experience, memories, and gratitude for what they were able to accomplish over the last few months.

“I would absolutely recommend this internship to others because it’s an extremely whole and complete experience for everyone,” said Tanmay Varshney, Software Intern. “You’re able to live in Chicago and explore the city; you’re also able to interact with all the other interns and have a really close-knit group, as well as interact with the colleagues around you including cross-functional teams and executive management.”

Congratulations on a great summer! Thank you, 2024 Intern Class, for everything.
