Richard Anderson, Director of Maintenance
The Challenge
With 40 years of aviation industry experience, Richard Anderson has been J. New Aviation’s Director of Maintenance for the last five years. Richard’s job is to manage all maintenance requirements of the aircraft in his fleet. Principal responsibilities include: parts procurement, in-house repairs, outside shop heavy maintenance management and auditing aircraft records.
Previously, we were using a mix of two different systems to track our maintenance. After one company acquired the other, the two became increasingly similar – and more expensive! These systems could generate a lot of different reports, but I questioned the usefulness of many of them. It was a heavy system, complicated to manage and expensive. So, when I first heard about Traxxall about two years ago, I was interested.
The Implementation
In July 2016, J. New Aviation began implementing Traxxall.
We came to the conclusion that we needed to centralize our aircraft on a single maintenance tracking platform and quickly realized that Traxxall offered better technology and better value than competing systems.
The Benefits of Traxxall
Traxxall is easy to use and it generates sensible reports. One thing I appreciate are the work cards that it generates. It sounds very simple but it’s so important. We are a small team – two very experienced technicians and myself – with a lot to do. With Traxxall’s work cards, I can easily prioritize jobs, manage my team and manage my day.
Our Analyst at Traxxall is excellent. It’s like having an expert looking over your shoulder. They are very good at catching service bulletins and making sure that we are aware of all important information.
I believe the overall benefit of using Traxxall is accuracy. It creates uniform documentation, which instills a sense of professionalism and pride in your work. Unfortunately, owners don’t always put enough value on the importance of impeccable record keeping. But, in a pre-buy situation, solid records make an aircraft more attractive – not to mention making the next person’s job easier!
