Where the Next Generation Takes Flight: The JSSI Internship Experience

The strength of any industry lies in the talent that carries it forward. At JSSI, developing that talent is a structured, intentional commitment to identifying, shaping, and retaining the next generation of aviation professionals. For over a decade, the JSSI internship program has been doing exactly that, and with more than 20 program alumni now holding full-time roles at the company, it is a pipeline that demonstrably works.

This summer's intern class will go beyond the boundaries of a traditional internship, gaining firsthand exposure to global operations, direct access to senior leadership, and experiences that build the kind of industry perspective that cannot be taught in a classroom.

Read on to meet the class of '26 and learn more about the impactful experiences they'll have.

BEYOND THE DESK

There's a lot that goes into a summer at JSSI. Interns get exposure to the business from multiple angles, learn from senior leaders, get their hands dirty in day-to-day operations, and spend time thinking about where the industry is headed.

Click through the experiences below to see what that looks like in practice.

LEARNING DIRECTLY FROM SENIOR LEADERS

The aviation industry's next chapter will be written by the professionals entering it today. Throughout the summer, JSSI interns meet one-on-one with members of the company's senior leadership team, sitting down each week with executives across finance, operations, technology, legal, marketing, and more. These conversations are designed to give emerging professionals a genuine window into how an aviation business operates across its different functions. The goal is for interns to leave with not just technical experience, but a broader sense of the industry and how its pieces fit together, perspective that can be hard to come by early in a career.

UNDERSTANDING JSSI'S PARTS & ENGINES BUSINESS

From June 22–26, JSSI interns will travel to the company's warehouse and operations facility in Erlanger, Kentucky, a chance to see firsthand the infrastructure behind aviation support. The visit will expose emerging professionals to the logistics, technical operations, and supply chain functions that power JSSI's global network, offering a ground-level look at how the business operates beyond the office. The goal is for interns to leave with a more complete picture of the industry, not just one function, but the broader ecosystem that keeps aviation moving.

EXPLORING AVIATION, UP CLOSE

Each summer, JSSI takes its interns to EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the world's largest aviation celebration. It's a cornerstone of the internship experience, bringing emerging professionals into direct contact with the history, innovation, and culture that define the industry. From vintage aircraft to the latest technology, interns leave Oshkosh with a richer sense of where aviation has been and where it's headed. It's a reminder that aviation is more than an industry, it's a community with a lot of history and a lot left to build.

CONNECTING WITH JSSI'S CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAM

Each summer, interns are given a dedicated day to volunteer together, and the cause is entirely their choice. This initiative reflects a commitment to developing well-rounded professionals who understand that leadership means more than industry expertise; it means responsibility to the communities around them. By empowering interns to make this decision collectively, JSSI fosters the kind of collaborative, values-driven thinking that defines the next generation of aviation leaders.
