Plenty of aircraft buyers are well qualified and still can’t get a deal financed. The reason usually isn’t credit. It’s that the aircraft is a few years past a lender’s age cutoff, the buyer sits outside a bank’s core geography, or the ownership structure spans more than one jurisdiction.
As Ben Hockenberg, Chief Investment Officer at JSSI Aviation Capital, put it to AvBuyer earlier this year: “The people most constrained by traditional lending aren’t the riskiest — they’re the least conventional.” With roughly 25,000 business jets in service and only a fraction inside the typical eight-to-ten-year financing window, that leaves a lot of good aircraft underserved. In the interview, Ben explains how JAC puts JSSI’s four decades of maintenance and residual-value expertise behind its underwriting, offers the full range of structures under one roof, from loans and leases to bridge, PDP, and sale-leaseback, and partners with banks and other lenders when a deal needs speed, capacity, or a different balance sheet.
