Voices of Haiti Cruise With JSSI

The Andrea Bocelli Foundation (ABF) and JSSI recently celebrated the international debut of Andrea Bocelli’s Voices of Haiti choir. JSSI was honored to arrange a flight onboard a Boeing 737-400 from Haiti to New York for the ensemble of 35 children and teachers, as they embarked on their first trip off the island nation.

The Voices of Haiti flight from Port Au Prince (MTPP) landed in Newark (KEWK) for a week-long trip packed full of exciting musical events. They sang with the legendary Bocelli at the Lincoln Center Global Exchange Opening Ceremony, performed at Tony Bennett’s 90th birthday, and made further appearances at the Childhood Foundation Conference at the United Nations and the Clinton Global Citizen Awards.

Towards the end of their trip, the choir members enjoyed a spectacular cruise around New York City. Hosted by Bob Book, JSSI Chairman, and Neil Book, JSSI President and CEO, the voyage around Manhattan to the Statue of Liberty was an ideal opportunity to celebrate the choir’s incredible journey so far. During the cruise, internationally renowned entrepreneur Martha Stewart was onboard to create a special lunch for the children and guests, accompanied by “salad-tinis” served in plastic shakers.

This trip marked an exciting and positive step in JSSI’s continued support for the people of Haiti. Following the devastating earthquake in 2010, JSSI facilitated the donation of more than $1-million of business aircraft flight hours to transport supplies, equipment, medical personnel and volunteers to earthquake stricken areas in Haiti. In addition, JSSI management purchased 20,000 pounds of critical supplies and assisted with loading and preparing the donated aircraft for departure.

The Andrea Bocelli Foundation was created in July 2011 to return some of the affection and closeness Andrea Bocelli, world-renowned classical music artist, and his family experienced over the course of his career traveling the world. Read more about the foundation at
