Helping Chicago's Homeless With The Night Ministry

JSSI supports Chicago-based charity, The Night Ministry. The organization was founded in 1976 to serve individuals on Chicago’s nighttime streets struggling with loneliness, despair, poverty, substance abuse, homelessness and more. This commitment continues today and the organization now touches the lives of thousands of individuals across the city.

JSSI’s Health and Wellness Committee worked with The Night Ministry to assemble over 50 hygiene kits to benefit the people The Night Ministry serves. The kits, containing toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, lotion, razors, shampoo, conditioner and soap, will be handed out from the organization’s Health Outreach Bus. The bus not only offers medical exams, treatment and HIV testing services but also provides an invaluable opportunity for coffee, conversation and a sense of community.

The Night Ministry’s ongoing mission is to provide housing, health care, and human connection to youth and adults who are struggling with poverty and homelessness in Chicago. The mission is advanced through health care, street outreach, and shelter programs. All services of The Night Ministry are offered entirely free of charge.
